Last year I installed Windows 10 on my Lenovo ideapad z Today suddenly in the middle of my session, my laptop suddenly could no longer connect to wifi. On restarting I realized the wireless network card wasn't working. In fact, the OS does not even realize that the laptop has a wireless network card.

It can still recognize the ethernet card and bluetooth. The fact that the OS was not able to automatically install a device driver on a reboot indicates that this is a OS issue.

The forums also point to the same direction. Please advise.

I thought everything went great until I realized that it would not connect to the Internet. The device manager said my network devices were installed correctly, but Network and Sharing Center said I had no network adapters. Thus, I could not activate Windows I tried reinstalling drivers using the Win8 drivers found on the Lenovo partition. No love. I tried to use the recovery option to go back to Windows 8. I found on the web on my work computer that this same problem had happened to someone while using the Win10 preview version and the only way around it was to do a fresh install.

So I did that. Now Windows wants the product key for this fresh install. But then we have the Network Adapter failure all over again When I did the fresh install of Win10, it put my old windows files in a folder called Windows. Is there a way to retrieve the old product keys from Win8 and Win8. I don't know how long this install will let me continue to use it before it locks me out. I'd like to get this solved before then.

If I have to purchase a copy of Win10 and forego the upgrade, so be it. I'm just glad this happened so I now know never to buy a Leno-no machine again! Back to Dell business machines where I have experienced a better level of customer service. There's no need to buy a key because you already own a Windows 8. As to the network adapter, make sure it is working from Windows 8 and hopefully the RTM of Windows 10 will have the driver and start connected.

If not it seems you have some other choices to try. I don't know why a modern wireless driver would not be in the RTM though. Overhelped in forums for 10 years.
