This may apply to the moral duty and obligation of an individual or group. The decisional process used to determine which act to do also come under scrutiny. Why was such an act done?
Why was it not done in another way? All of this is, of course, based on a moral compass, which guides an individual to do what is considered virtuous. The answer is quite simple, more than you may think.
Like the cyrenaics hedonist the vampire lives in the present.Incubi — Sleep Demons and Sex Spirits. An incubus is a demon in male form who, according to mythological and legendary traditions, lies upon sleeping women in order to engage in sexual activity with them. Belief in and the debate around incubi began early in the Christian tradition. That is to say that they could not beget offspring of their own being, but instead steal seed from humans, dead or alive, and impregnate living women.
This was done in various ways, including the theft of semen from a living or recently deceased corpse. The corpse would have to be fresh, as the semen would go cold and be unusable.
A way for the incubus to get around this problem would be to inhabit the corpse itself, rise from the dead, to lie with its female victims, putting a child in their womb. It is said that one can identify an incubus by its unusually large and cold penis.
While human, made with human seed, they are bestowed with supernatural powers. Merlin was said to be a cambion, the reason behind his great magical abilities. It was not unheard of for folks in the community to be accused of being cambion, especially if the pregnancy itself was unexplained.
Within the Maleus Malificarum, the Hammer of Witches, there are instructions to combat the effects of an incubus on its victims. Exorcism is one of the five ways stated, the others being Sacremental Confession, the Sign of the Cross, recital of the Angelic Salutation, or the moving of the afflicted to a different location. The alp of German mythology is something akin to a vampiric incubus. The trauco in provincial Chilean folklore is a hideous deformed creature of small stature who lulls nubile young women to seduces them in a dream state.
Brazil, South Africa and Sweden all have their own variations, as well as the near and far east. The demonic lover is a spirit that has haunted man and woman alike as far back as our written stories.
It bares a resemblance to the more recently understood phenomena of sleep paralysis, especially the succubus, with the hag laying atop the male victim. Many point to this as an example of early man attempting to explain away sleep paralysis and nightmares. A close look at the details of the image reveals that each symbol is inevitably balanced with its opposite. Baphomet himself is an androgynous character as it is bearing the characteristics of both sexes: female breasts and a rod representing the erect phallus.

So please keep this thread to banishing methods and best practices so i can devise my own banishing system to rid myself of some probelm spirit s. The instrument should be something which is impressive to the mind and should also represent the aspirations of the magician.
The advantages of hand forging one's own instruments, or discovering them in some strange way, cannot be over-emphasized. The banishing ritual should contain the following elements as a minimum. First, the magician describes a barrier about himself with the magical weapon. The barrier is also strongly visualized. Three dimensional figures are preferable.
See figure 1 on page Second, the magician focuses his will on a visualized image: for example, the image of the magical weapon, or his own imagi- nary third eye, or perhaps a ball of light inside his own head. A sound concentration may additionally or alternatively be used. Third, the barrier is reinforced with power symbols drawn with the magical weapon. The traditional five-pointed star or pentagram can be used, or the eight-pointed star of Chaos, or any other form.
Words of power may also be used. Fourth, the magician aspires to the infinite void by a brief but determined effort to stop thinking.
Took this straight out of liber Null book. The barrier you visualize easiest is the shape of a pyramid wirh a pentagram at each corner and top. As well as herbs that correspond to banishment. Board index All times are UTC.Chaos magicalso spelled chaos magickis a contemporary magical practice. It was initially developed in England in the s, drawing heavily from the philosophy of artist and occultist Austin Osman Spare.
Chaos magic has been described as a union of traditional occult techniques and applied postmodernism — particularly a postmodernist skepticism concerning the existence or knowability of objective truth. Early leading figures include Peter J. Carroll and Ray Sherwin. Chaos magic differs from other occult traditions such as Thelema or Wicca in that it rejects the existence of absolute truth, and views all occult systems as arbitrary symbol-systems that are only effective because of the belief of the practitioner.
It is unknown when the term "chaos magic" first emerged, with the earliest texts on the subject referring only to "magic" or "the magical art" in general. Furthermore, they often claimed to state principles universal to magic, as opposed to a new specific style or tradition, describing their innovations as efforts to rid magic of superstitious and religious ideas. The word chaos was first used in connection with magic by Peter J.
Magical traditions like WiccaQabalah or the Golden Dawn system combine techniques for bringing about change with "beliefs, attitudes, a conceptual model of the universe if not severala moral ethic, and a few other things besides.
Y" approach means that the working practices of different chaos magicians often look drastically different, with many authors explicitly encouraging readers to invent their own magical style.
The central defining tenet of chaos magic is arguably the "meta-belief" that "belief is a tool for achieving effects". Some commentators have traced this position to the influence of postmodernism on contemporary occultism. This "free belief" could then be directed towards new aims. Other writers have highlighted the influence of occultist Aleister Crowleywho wrote of the occult:.
In this book it is spoken of the Sephiroth and the Paths; of Spirits and Conjurations; of Gods, Spheres, Planes, and many other things which may or may not exist. It is immaterial whether these exist or not. By doing certain things certain results will follow; students are most earnestly warned against attributing objective reality or philosophic validity to any of them.
Within the magical system of Austin Osman Sparemagic was thought to operate by using symbols to communicate desire to something Spare termed "Kia" a sort of universal mind, of which individual human consciousnesses are aspects via the "passage" of the unconscious — hence the need for complex systems of symbolism. Provided there was enough "free belief" to feed them, these desires would then grow, unconsciously, into "obsessions", which would culminate in magical results occurring in reality.
Peter J. Carroll inherited this model from Spare, but used the term "Kia" to refer to the consciousness of the individual: "the elusive 'I' which confers self-awareness".
Peter J. Carroll
In his own words:. To the extent that the Kia can become one with Chaos it can extend its will and perception into the universe to accomplish magic. Later chaos magicians have stressed that this basic operating process can be explained in multiple different ways, from within different paradigms. For example:. Since chaos magic is built around an experimental, D. However, there are a few techniques that have been specifically developed by chaos magicians, and are unique to the tradition.
Most chaos magic techniques involve something called the gnostic state, or gnosis. This is described as an altered state of consciousness in which a person's mind is focused on only one pointthought, or goal and all other thoughts are thrust out. Since it is claimed to take many years of training to master this sort of Zen-like meditative ability, chaos magicians employ a variety of other ways to attain a "brief 'no-mind' state" in which to work magic.
A sigil is a picture or glyph that represents a particular desire or intention. They are most commonly created by writing out the intention, then condensing the letters of the statement down to form a sort of monogram. The chaos magician then uses the gnostic state to "launch" or "charge" the sigil — essentially bypassing the conscious mind to implant the desire in the unconscious.Get Instant Access. The mantrical spell method basically employs acoustic sigils. The principle of constructing mantrical sigils is quite simple: the sentence of desire is transformed into a mantra devoid of any obvious sense or meaning.
This may be done most easily by writing down the sentence of desire in a quasi-phonetic manner, i. This may demand some ingenuity, but any magician needs this, and, here again, practice alone makes for refinement. Let us take an example from Liber Null p. For the use of mantrical sigils, you will need some linguistic agility and an ear for rhythm.
Liber Null and the Psychonaut
The sigil mantras should sound euphonic meaning "nice" as well as "somehow magical. An exception to this rule are the "words of power," which are sometimes sigilized, as we shall see later on. This does not, however, invalidate the example as a whole. Thus, the psychic censor is softened up and direct access to the unconscious is set free. They may express a certain form of worship and heightening of awareness. Islam especially Sufism knows its mantras, as does Catholicism, which uses them, for example, in its rosary litanies, and shamans all over the world are known to work with different forms of mantras.
While a sound knowledge of mantra theory can be of help when using mantrical sigils, it is not strictly necessary. Our sentence of desire has been turned into a mantra by manipulating its sound elements, and we cannot recognize its meaning anymore as is also the case with word and pictorial sigils.
You can now activate this acoustic sigil by repeating it over and over again, for hours on end, if possible. The monotony of this procedure will guide you into a kind of. You may support this procedure by a trance of exhaustion, achieved, for example, by fasting, prolonged lack of sleep or extreme physical exertion. You might even use autohypnosis by playing the mantra on a tape recorder during your sleep best use endless cassettesbut experience has shown that this is not really requisite except as an auxiliary measure.
After charging the mantra, banish by laughter and immediately distract the conscious mind as described in chapter 3. Instead of fashioning lengthy sigil mantras, a single "Word of Power" may be formed using the same construction technique as described above. Let us take the example of the aforementioned succubus evocation.
The finished mantra in the end was:. When charging, you may proceed as you would with longer sigil mantras: by chanting it monotonously for a long time. Or, you may proceed spasmodically as with the word or pictorial method, using the techniques described in chapter 3. Instead of an optical internalization, you perform an acoustic one: at the peak of the tension regardless of whether you use sex-magical techniques or the various versions of the death posture you shout aloud the word of power—the louder the better, because this drives away all disturbing thoughts and even interrupts the entire ability to think for the duration of the exclamation.
Here again, don't forget to banish the operation by laughter and then distract your attention. The technique of the infamous "death cry" of the Australian aborigines is based on a very similar principle. The only disadvantage of the mantrical spell method is that it is not particularly silent. Therefore, usually you will have to be alone when using it, unless you are lucky enough to live with people who are in sympathy with your magical "quirks," or are completely deaf.
Anyone familiar with mantra systems will be aware of the fact that there are generally three stages of mantra intonation the so-called "Japa-Mantra" : loud, low, and silent or mental intonation. The mental intonation is considered to be the "highest" form of mantra working and is quite complicated.Chaos Magick - Part 1
These hints, however, should enable you to experiment with quite a number of different mantra techniques. Incidentally, it seems more than likely that some of the medieval spells were constructed in the same, or at least in a very similar, manner.
Albeit most of the handed-down formulas are little else than mutilated church Latin or Hebrew, and even though most of the other spells have almost certainly been constructed via cabbalistic gematria or have been received as a "revelation" of sorts, there are a number of formulas and "barbarous names of evocation" which cannot be explained as such etymologically.
However, this has to remain pure speculation for the time being. It will largely depend on your own temperament and on your predilections whether you use the word, pictorial or mantrical spell method. Whereas I myself favor the word method and, occasionally, the pictorial method, I must admit that the mantrical spell method has borne the most amazing and speediest results.Chaos Magick.

Casting sigils is a highly effective form of sorcery and Sherwin provides a sound overview of the process.
He cuts through the cant, rhetoric and old-fashioned moral baggage associated with magical practice and shows us how to use sigils to influence the subconscious, bypassing the often contradictory and usually self-sabotaging internal dialogue of the conscious mind.
The Book of Results was first published in just as Chaos Magick was emerging from the stygian depths of the primordial occult oozo and it was essentially a book about the practise and theory of sigils as espoused by Austin Spare at the turn of the Twentieth Century. However, Sherwin takes the process of working with sigils and develops it into a fully ritualised technique. In this book he describes a daily regime that, at first glance, seems to owe more to Abra-Melin though much more compact and personalised than to Chaos Magick.
However, this is Chaos Magick in its true form without much chaos. The chaos in this book is anything but disorganised. The discipline described by Sherwin is far from the adhoc, make-it-up-as-you-go-along rituals that often seems to accompany much of what Chaos Magick has become over the years. The true Chaos Magick that Sherwin describes is the chaos of abandoning all established theory and running barefoot ahead with no boundaries.
This sort of writing is where Chaos Magick came from. Letting go of the cobwebs of doctrine and dogma - left over by the likes of Crowley, Mathers or The Key of Solomon - is what Chaos Magick was supposed to be about.
Having said that Sherwin isn't afraid of referring to the likes of Crowley but he takes what he needs and builds from there.
The book includes a great deal of practical advice, which can be very useful at the beginning of a magical career and is a breath of fresh air to any one who wants to learn REAL Magick.
