Alas, Dxbx doesn't use this virtual filesystem for it's file-related kernel functions, so apart from the loading of an Xbe, all other file accesses are still entirely done through the local file system. So, once we've back-ported the virtual file system code of Dxbx, start using it in our file-related kernel functions too, in order to gain complete XISO support.

Aside from porting the Dxbx virtual filesystem work, how feasible is it to redirect file io calls yet? Surely we need to wait for some of our own kernel implementations. Our kernel currently forwards all file related API calls to NtDll, but that is just a temporary solution. Eventually we must implement our own file system handling code anyway, so why not use a virtual filesystem right from the start?!

The Dxbx vfs is much smaller. Regardless which vfs we choose, the XDVDFS code has to be back ported anyway, in order to support reading from xbox iso files, as one type of vfs.

We don't know if this is the most recent version. There seems to exist a v2. What about this? Hey, good finds! In hindsight I had that repository starred already. Let's compare that version with the Dxbx code - perhaps Dxbx contains some fixes that might need porting. I diff'ed them - the Dxbx version indeed fixes two corner cases and uses named constants instead of literal integer values.

Otherwise they're identical, which means we can start out with that version, and just have to port back the few Dxbx fixes. Xbox discs consist of two areas, the first being a standard ISO filesystem, the second being a 'secure area' which contains the XDVD file system.

We need to make sure both types are supported, the first because it is most common, and full dumps because they are what you get when you dump a full Xbox disc using a compatible drive. Looks like if we scan for the header rather than looking for it at the start of the image, we automatically support both types. That's good to know! Step 1 is now available as PR - this introduces fundamental sector reading and parsing.

Following this, we could port the Dxbx file system code. They were originally made to hold rom collections but they also contain disc images now. For most, useability will probably be their main criteria This requires having easy to use and fast tools to dump their media Preferably without the need for any further conversion, getting a single output file that can readily be used anywhere, and is not too big.

LukeUsher wrote :. On softmodded consoles you just extract the iso to raw filesystem dumps that we already run in Cxbx-Reloaded and then the xbes get patched to remove anti piracy checks and region checks, that's pretty much all their is to it. As for CHD, the recent libchdr project on github offers an independent implementation for all five CHD versions currently in existence, with only limited dependencies LukeUsher Ah, okay thanks. Do you have any resources on how to re-generate the random data?

The downside to any Xbox-specific solution, is that by definition it becomes a niche format, which is a liability we'd rather avoid. JayFoxRox replied :. This directory is probably the last entry as the size of the extracted files exactly matches the size when extracting the disc with xbox back creator directly from the disc. With xdvdmulleter with the redump as well as the xbox backup creator images I get an invalid toc entry error and can't even try to extract the file.

Is there some way to ignore this error or fix it? Are you using our fork of extract-xiso? There are other versions outdated or specialized of this tool maintained by other people.

There've been 4 different games in the Burnout series on Xbox; and there's at least 12 different discs on Redump only 2 of which have been confirmed. Is there some way to ignore this error or fix it as it crashes in beginning of the extraction and therefore only a small part of the files are extracted. We could potentially add some sanity checks if need-be. I dumped it via a kreon drive and made a redump dump with DICUI where the md5 matches with the one from redump.

I am really sorry to waste your time with this but as the xbox emulators improve I think people will try to use their own original discs with them. And if you dump it yourself and don't pirate them you will have to extract the redump image as cxbx needs the extracted files and xqemu needs a rebuilt image from the extracted files as it can't handle redump isos for now.

The first suggested programs I found were extract-xiso and xdvdmulleter and only after trying out a lot of programs I found xbox backup creator which finally worked. So if extract-xiso could also handle this use case others maybe won't have to search for so long anymore. I did not find time to submit to redump yet, but I can confirm that same hash for my German disc of Burnout 1.

Independent of the rest, this sounds suspicious: The data partition should be bytes in size. Your's is only half that size. Point 3 is obviously the most critical one, as it means that extract-xiso is fundamentally broken. There's different exit conditions for XISO:. That's also why we took over some of these 15 year old projects: to keep them alive and provide users with good tools.

We'd rather want to avoid tools which are primarily used by the piracy scene. We also want open-source and cross-platform tools. Skip to content. I am going to give this a try at some point in the near future to play those few games that will not play from the hdd due to long file names The mounted image looks like a DVD disc is loaded.

You'll need the NKPatcher Please login or register to see this link. And, the Please login or register to see this link. Update: Not really needed as I've attached a pre-compiled patcher below named evoxdash. As most modchip BIOS's are set to boot evoxdash.

Please login or register to see this attachment. It chain loads evox. However, if you do it this way, you'll need to edit the attacher's, default. Update - sorry the above list is not quite right the source file's comments had not been updated to match the actual code :. This is handy as a backdoor incase you arse up your dashboard and it loops. Hey I totally forgot about that!! Thanks Rocky, I do use 4gamers so once I get my iso games transferred across I will run the script.

ESPN NFL 2K5 (USA)

No softmod tho. There are a handful of games that will fail loading from hdd over time - most noteworthy are Toca race driver 3, The Warrirors, Harry potter prison of Azkaban and some Tony Hawk games. I want to be able to load them from hdd - and it seems the only option is to use the ISO load method. Thanks KaosEngineer and Rocky5 for your posts. I have run the script on my test iso and it has done its stuff as there is an xbe, tbn etc alongside the iso but when launching the game it just reboots to dash after a black screen.

From what I understand, this default. Update: I'm not sure you can have an xbe in the boot list stored in a subfolder on the C drive as shown above.

I always have the patcher in the root of the C drive but call it evoxdash. The LED will change colour for a second during the patching. It thinks all things are xbe files, so the gamename folder you see is a folder and not an xbe. Or do I have to do it manually somehow? Aha I see my first mistake. Then when dashboard xbmc4gamers reloads, go to the game menu and press A to run and "mount" the game to the virutal dvd rom. This item does not appear to have any files that can be experienced on Archive.

The thought was behind presearving the game and not actually being able to play it. What is the point of having something that can't be used. The world is moving away from that old hardware because it breaks down and has gone into the virtual.

If by some means that I dare care about and waste my time on a game that is easily found on the playstation No, this is not going to happen so whomever thought this up is an idiot. And the worst part is that emulation for the XBox has been going on for what When you lose interest then all you will be left with are these ISO's that you can't use because no one is going to bother going through the hassle.

Daily backups were still on the same HDD, so the last backup that was in possession of the admins was from November 3. After some weeks of radio silence, our admin iR0b0t finally informed us of the situation. It then took him another 2 months to finally bring back the site again on February 5.

It still remains unclear why it took him so long to bring back the site, but what matters now is that the site is back up and that steps have been taken to prevent this from happening again: We are on a better server now with RAID1 and daily backups. On behalf of iR0b0t, Jesus, God, Satan, the Deutsche Post and everybody else involved in this calamity, we wish to apologize for the sudden downtime and thank you for your patience.

We want to ensure you guys that redump. It's now been 10 years since we started our journey nostalgia trip and a lot has happened in those 10 years: Many people have come and gone and a lot of new systems and information have been added over the years. Many thousands of hours have been put into creating a database with information on many thousands of video game-related optical discs.

Cataloging and preserving this history seemed like an impossible task when whe initially started out, and even though the project always remained somewhat small and obscure, we can still conclude that a lot of things have been accomplished in those 10 years and that many of the games that we love and cherish are now preserved in our database.

The Japan region continues to catch up, thanks to a small group of dedicated dumpers who continue to add new dumps each week. Then there's also IBM PC, our largest and most convoluted system, which also continues to have a steady stream of rare and not-so-rare discs added to the db each week.

A huge thanks goes out to all the people who contributed to our database over the past 10 years, and we look forward all the new contributions from new and existing members in the years to come. It will release a second security sector ranges on xbox ss. Download link is available in the guide.
